Sheet metal workers install build, install and repair a variety of sheet metal products ranging from ductwork for heating, ventilation and air conditioning, to the manufacture of equipment, building segments and roofing. They can work for a variety of industries, on site or in shops.

Responsibilities
- Lay out, measure and mark dimensions according to drawings & templates
- Supply, install, service and repair air handing equipment, furnaces & fans
- Operate metalworking machines to cut, drill, shape or straighten sheet metal
- Fasten with bolts, screws, cement, adhesives, soldering or welding
- Install and repair sheet metal products
- Ensure installations confirm to specifications and building codes
- Manufacture and install flashing for roofing applications

What You’ll Need
Entrance Requirements
To potentially reduce length of apprenticeship term: Completed courses of study, related work experience or a related journeyperson certificate AND employer’s recommendation.
Apprenticeship Program: 4 years, includes technical training, 1,425 hours on-the-job training, and exam. Journeyperson certificate awarded after successful completion. As an apprentice, you also earn while you learn.
