Ironworker – Reinforcing tradespeople place and tie reinforcing material. They place and tie reinforcing steel, and post-tension tendons and related components to reinforce concrete structures.

Responsibilities
- Read blueprints & specifications to lay out work
- Safely operate tools & equipment
- Unload materials to access, relocate and/or hoist as needed
- Erect and install construction cranes & hoisting equipment
- Assemble rigging to move materials
- Direct crane operators with hand signals or radios
- Select, cut, bend, position and secure steel bars or wire mesh to reinforce concrete

What You’ll Need
Entrance Requirements
English 10-2 and Math 10-3 OR all five Canadian General Educational Development tests OR Entrance Exam.
Apprenticeship Program: 2 years, includes technical training and 3,000 hours on-the-job training, and exam. Journeyperson certificate awarded after successful completion. As an apprentice, you also earn while you learn.
