Responsibilities

  • Read blueprints & specifications to lay out work
  • Safely operate tools & equipment
  • Unload materials to access, relocate and/or hoist as needed
  • Erect and install construction cranes & hoisting equipment
  • Assemble rigging to move materials
  • Direct crane operators with hand signals or radios
  • Select, cut, bend, position and secure steel bars or wire mesh to reinforce concrete

Entrance Requirements

English 10-2 and Math 10-3 OR all five Canadian General Educational Development tests OR Entrance Exam.

Apprenticeship Program:

2 years, includes technical training and 3,000 hours on-the-job training, and exam. Journeyperson certificate awarded after successful completion. As an apprentice, you also earn while you learn.
